Pakistan, China vow to enhance cooperation to curb terrorism

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a detailed meeting with a visiting Chinese delegation headed by Chinese Minister for Political and Law Affairs Chen Mengguo in Islamabad on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


On arrival at Interior Ministry Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the Chinese delegation.


It was decided during the meeting that mutual cooperation will be enhanced in anti-terrorism, cross-border and anti-narcotics measures.


Pakistan and China agreed to start anti-terrorism exercises of paramilitary forces in Gilgit-Baltistan or Xinjiang regions.


The participants of the meeting decided that Gilgit-Baltistan police personnel will get training from Xinjiang Police Academy. Both sides agreed that terrorism is a global challenge and it should be dealt by adopting effective measures.


It was also decided that a Pakistani delegation headed by Secretary Interior will visit Xinjiang province of China soon. The Chinese delegation also extended an invitation to Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi to visit Xinjiang.


During the meeting Mohsin Naqvi said that Xinjiang province of China is playing vital role to strengthen friendly ties between the two countries. He further said that CPEC is also passing through Xinjiang province.


Mohsin Naqvi said that we want to strengthen ties with Xinjiang province and will adopt effective measures to curb smuggling of narcotics, weapons, and other goods through these areas.


He hoped that friendly-ties between China and Pakistan will become more strengthen. He said that Xinjiang province already faced many terrorist activities and Pakistan should take benefits from Chinese experience to curb terrorist activities.


Other persons who were part of the delegation includes Xinjiang’s Committee for Parliamentary and Law Affairs, Executive Director-General Police, Vice President of Xinjiang Police Academy, while Pakistani side was represented by Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Special Secretary Waqas Ali Mehmood and Additional Secretary Nazar Mohammad Buzdar.
