All four branches of Mehsud tribes have agreed to a total social boycott of their community members involved in street crimes in Karachi, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Monday.
According to the channel, the Mehsud tribe has taken measures to address the issue of street crime in Karachi with significant contributions from elders of the Manzai, Bilzai, Shamankhel, and Barki branches during a local Jirga in Karachi.
As per the key recommendations of social sanctions on individuals involved in crimes in Karachi from the Jirga, if a member of the Mehsud community is found involved in street crime, there will be a boycott of his funeral, and burial will not be permitted in the community's cemetery.
Additionally, community members will refrain from attending the wedding ceremonies of individuals involved in theft or robbery.
Mufti Khalid, a leader of a branch of the Mehsud tribe emphasized that those involved in crimes from the Mehsud tribe will not receive community support as well as the community will also not intervene on their behalf at police stations or seek bail for them in the courts.
The channel reported that a central Jirga of the Mehsud community will be convened this week to document and implement the decisions.
