Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman Thursday night de-notified Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab Chief Minister.
Punjab Governor shared the order on his twitter handle.
"Since CM has refrained from obtaining Vote of Confidence at the appointed day and time therefore he ceases to hold office. Orders issued this evening," he wrote.

The order said that Provincial Cabinet shall stand dissolved and has also directed Ch Pervaiz Elahi to continue to hold office until his successor enters the office.
The decision came after a long consultative meeting at Punjab’s Governor as key leaders of the ruling parties in the federal capital pondered options to de-notify Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi from his post.
Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar were present in the Governor House to hold consultations with the top leadership regarding issuing the notification.
The meeting was chaired by Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman.
According to sources, the consultations on legal aspects de-notify the Chief Minister Punjab have been completed over his failure to take a vote of confidence.
The notification was issued after receiving a green signal from Islamabad.
