Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called off talks with the government after three rounds of talks, insisting they were not willing to sit down with the rulers until the formation of the judicial commission, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed on Thursday PTI founder Imran Khan’s decision to walk away from the dialogue after the fourth round of talks was scheduled for January 28. The absence of any announcement regarding the formation of the judicial commission was the reason for calling off the talks, Gohar added.

“There was no cooperation from the government’s side. The talks can’t move forward until there is an announcement regarding commission formation,” Gohar said and added, “The PTI was willing to continue the talks and the process can move head if a three-judge commission is constituted.”

The PTI chairman said they will continue their struggle as per law and constitution. “As per the directive of the PTI founder, they will join hands will all opposition parties to move forward,” he added.

There have so far been three rounds of talks between the PTI and the government. In the second round, the PTI submitted written demands to the ruling regime. The government eventually asked for seven days to respond to the letter.

“No commissions, no negotiations,” PTI leader Omar Ayub wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. In a press conference on Thursday, Omar Ayub reiterated that PTI would not participate in the negotiations until a commission is formed by the government to investigate the events that transpired on May 9 and November 26.

Meanwhile, the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui, categorically said that no decision has yet been taken regarding the formation of a judicial commission. Reacting to PTI’s decision, Irfan Siddiqui said he will give a written response to the opposition party’s charter of demands on January 28.

PML-N Leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui has expressed concerns over PTI’s decision of quitting negotiations. Irfan Siddiqui said PTI's announcement of ending the negotiations was regrettable. He advised PTI to review the decision and not to leave the negotiations.

PML-N leader said, “If you (PTI) leave the talks, will you go to May 9?.”
