PPP Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded the veteran politicians “to quit their politics” because their “old-method” manoeuvres will multiply the problems, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a mammoth public rally and PPP workers convention in Chitral on Wednesday, Bilawal Bhutto maintained “I ask respectfully ask the senior politicians to now pray for the country. Let us do the work, it’s our turn to deliver.”

These old politicians are now talking about abolishing the 18th Amendment, he said and added, “They wanted to take the funds for Chitral to Islamabad.”

The PPP chief did not name who are these “veteran politicians” but most of his speech was directed against PML-N and its leaders.

Later in the speech, Bilawal, however, made it clear that he was not against the senior politicians rather he opposed their “old-method” politics which have now become obsolete.

Taunting the rivals, Bilawal said whenever PPP’s government comes into power it is declared as public’s government but whenever Mian Sahab (PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif) comes into power “that’s the government is of elite”. “We want to form a government of masses and labourers in the country,” he added.

During the 18-month PDM government, Bilawal said “Our ally focused more on personal vendettas than on solving problems of the masses.”

The PPP does not contest elections on meagre promises rather they go into elections on the basis on their performance, he maintained, adding “We are ready for polls.”

He said the inflation has gripped the whole country and the solution only lies in PPP’s manifesto.

Listing his party’s future plans, Bilawal pledged to make former FATA and PATA regions as tax-free. “First of all, we will build roads. Then we will install cheap electricity plants,” he added.

The former foreign minister said “The previous PPP govt had built Army-standard hospitals in every district of Sindh.”

The PPP chief also announced to launch ‘Apni Zameen Apna Makan’ (own land own house) for the flood affectees. “We will provide ownership rights to dwellers of Katchi Abadis all across the country,” he said.

Bilawal said “I will ask Aeefa Bhutto if she is willing to contest elections from Chitral. I will pursue Aseefa to contest elections from Chitral.”

He said the country was witnessing severe economic hardships. ''Whenever we [PPP] had the opportunity, we delivered for the masses. “I want to complete the mission of my leadership. But I will need your support in this regard,’’ he added.

Bilawal said, “It seems as if the country will witness a further increase in hardships. I am feeling quite sad.’’

He y called on the voters to rally behind his party in the general elections.
