Following the court order in a money laundering case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has frozen properties and bank accounts of former federal minister and PTI leader Moonis Elahi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

As many as eight bank accounts of the PTI leader were frozen in Lahore alone.

According to the documents, which 24News managed to obtain, over Rs480 million were deposited in different accounts belonging to Moonis.

The documents further disclose that the PTI leader drew all the money from these accounts.

It has been alleged that Moonis used his several accounts to launder money.

Similarly, out of his total six properties, which have been frozen, five are in Kasur and one is in Rawalpindi.

One of the allegations against him is that he amassed these properties from the laundered money.

Five days ago, an accountability court in Lahore, in its written decision, had declared Moonis an absconder in a corruption case.

The court stated that Moonis had been evading court appearances and had failed to cooperate with the prosecution.

The court also said that the 30-day period for advertising proceedings against him was also over. Consequently, the court ordered Elahi’s arrest.
