PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair said he did not ask any favour for his party leaders in meeting with Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Zubair said he has some 40-year old relations with COAS Bajwa and it was not the first time he met with the COAS.
He said he never met COAS ever for any political reasons and he did not represent anyone in the meetings.
He said neither Nawaz Sharif nor Maryam Nawaz did not ask for the meeting. He said he discussed different things with the COAS including political ones but that was not meant for asking favours.
He said Army Chief himself invited during the marriage ceremony of Asad Umar’s son in Karachi to have a meeting with him whenever I visit Islamabad and when I came to Islamabad after coronavirus restrictions, I paid him a visit.
He denied that Nawaz or Maryam knew ahead of his meetings with the COAS but latter he told about the meetings to Maryam.
He said DGI ISI Faiz Hameed asked him the purpose of his visit and I told him that I did not come here to seek any favour for his party or leaders.
However, DG ISPR earlier has categorically said in both meetings matters related to Maryam and Nawaz Sharif were discussed.
But Zubair said his visit’s purpose was not for currying favours and he was at a loss why DG ISPR gave such impression.
