PDMA forecasts new rain spell for areas along upper course of rivers

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Friday issued an alert regarding a new spell of rains for the upper catchment of Sutlej River during the next 72 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the PDMA, there is a possibility of light rain with gusty winds in areas along the upper course of Indus, Jhelum, Chenab and Ravi rivers.
The water level may rise in the canals originating from these rivers.
Moreover, a light rain spell is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sahiwal divisions.
“All districts should be prepared round the clock to deal with an emergency situation,” the PDMA directed.
“The district administration must take precautionary measures to avoid any loss to life and property,” it added.
