Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has refused to preside over the session till his production orders about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Senator Ejaz Chaudhry will not be implemented, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Friday.

According to the channel report, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP)-backed Chairman of the Senate announced boycotting the session after the failure to implement the production orders for Senator Ejaz Chaudhry.

Former premier Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also informed the federal government about his decision to boycott the session till his orders were obeyed.

Talking to the media, the Senate Chairman firmly stated that the boycott would continue until the production orders for Senator Ejaz Chaudhry were implemented.

The channel reported that following his announcement, Yousaf Raza Gilani, despite being present in his chamber, refrained from attending the Senate session on Friday.

Earlier today, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani's chamber and discussed several significant matters during this time.

It is pertinent to mention here that on January 13, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani issued orders for the production of PTI leader Senator Ejaz Chaudhry in the Senate session. The order directed that Senator Chaudhry should be present in the Senate the next day.

However, on January 14, a team from the Islamabad Police returned empty-handed from the jail after failing to execute the Senate Chairman’s production order to bring Senator Ejaz Chaudhry.

The police team, which was tasked with escorting Chaudhry to the Senate session, left without having met with the jail authorities.

The jail authorities confirmed that the police did not deliver the production orders. "We strictly comply with any directives officially communicated to us," said the jail officials.

Senator Ejaz Chaudhry is currently facing multiple cases related to the nationwide riots that occurred on May 9, 2023.
