Warder punished as Pervaiz Elahi enjoys home-cooked food in prison

PTI Central President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in connivance with jail authorities has been enjoying home-cooked food in prison, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to sources, this practice has been ongoing for the past 12 days. Home-prepared meals, replacing the usual prison food, are said to be smuggled into the jail cleverly hidden in prison kitchen utensils.

It has been reported that Muffakhar, the driver of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has been delivering food items such as boiled vegetables, meat, salad, and bread to the prison each afternoon. The food brought by Muffakhar was allegedly received by Deputy Superintendent Executive Imran Maqbool's order, thereby providing former Punjab chief minister with meals from his home.

This food was then transported to the prison kitchen, swapped with the standard prison food in the dishes meant for the incarcerated Tehreek-e-Insaf president.

Notably, these actions appear to directly contravene a recent directive issued by the Inspector General (IG) of Prisons. The IG had expressly prohibited any special food arrangements within jails, mandating instead that inmates' meals should be in accordance with instructions laid out by prison doctors.

Upon the leak of the “secret food operation” , a warder rank officer, Naveed Aslam, was implicated instead of senior prison officials who could potentially have had a hand in these arrangements.

As a consequence of these alleged indiscretions, Aslam has been transferred from his post at Camp Jail to Rajanpur Jail.

As the dust settles on these claims, serious questions arise about the enforcement of prison rules and the potential preferential treatment of high-profile prisoners.
