Sindh cities sizzle at 50 degrees Celsius as heatwave shows no sign of relenting

Extreme heat persists in most parts of the country, especially in Punjab and Sindh as the day temperature in some areas, including Jacobabad in Sindh, is expected to reach 50 degrees Celsius today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
On the other hand, 16 hours of loadshedding in urban areas and 20 hours of loadshedding in rural areas of Sindh has made matters worse.
Temperature in Mohenjo Daro is expected to go up to 51 degrees Celsius, while in Dadu, Nawabshah and Sibbi to 50 degrees Celsius; in Lahore to 46 degrees Celsius; in Turbat and Dera Ghazi Khan to 48 degrees Celsius, in Multan to 47 degrees Celsius, and in Faisalabad to 46 degrees Celsius.
Likewise, maximum temperature in Kashmore is expected to be recorded at 49 degrees Celsius.
It was hot and humid in Lahore as the temperature rose to 33 degrees Celsius in the morning that made people perspire profusely.
Minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, while the humidity level in the air in the morning stood at 48 per cent.
Breeze was blowing at the speed of 18 kilometers per hour.
NIH issues heatwave, sunstroke advisory
Keeping in view extremely hot weather affecting large swathes of the country, the National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued an advisory in which it has informed people that excessive exposure to the sun could lead to a heatstroke that could ultimately result in death of the patient.
The institute has advised people to take some measures immediately in order to protect themselves from the adverse effects of the heatwave. “Avoid going out in the sun and make sure that you remain safe from diarrhea so that the complications resulting from the heatstroke could be avoided,” it said.
The NIH informed that people could also suffer from typhoid due to excessively hot weather.
Met Office forecasts dry, hot weather
The Met Office, on the other hand, has said that there are no chances of rain in the provincial capital as well as most parts of the country during the ongoing week.
A few days ago, the Met Office had predicted heatwave for most parts of the country until May 27.
