Polio cases in country reach 40 as infant diagnosed with virus in Kohat

Yet another case of the poliovirus has been reported from the country, bringing the total number of cases of the virus reported this year so far to 40, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
As per the details provided by the National Institute of Health (NIH), a two-and-a-half-year-old child in tehsil Darra Adam Khel of district Kohat has been diagnosed with the disease.
The institute has said that the infant is suffering from Type 1 of wild poliovirus.
This is the second polio case reported from Kohat this year; earlier this month, another child from the district was found to have contracted the virus.
Four sewage samples taken from Kohat had been found to contain poliovirus.
Earlier, on October 19, two polio cases were reported from Sanghar and Mirpurkhas districts of Sindh.
