Lahorites deprived of Rs1.71b in 8 months

A hefty amount of Rs1.71 billion has been looted from Lahorites during the last 8 months and 16 days, reported 24News HD TV channel on Friday.
Quoting the police record, the TV reported that the police were able to recover only 10 percent of the looted goods.
As per details, in Lahore, more than 104.1 million rupees and valuables were looted in 55 robberies.
In more than 3,000 robberies, a record amount of Rs680 million was looted while a loss of Rs920 million was recorded in more than 1700 incidents of theft.
The total loss of valuables and cash was recorded at Rs1.71 billion, however, the police could recover Rs178.35 million so far which is 10 percent of the total looted and stolen valuables and cash.
DIG Operations Sohail Chaudhry said that effective measures were being carried out to curb crime. He said with the help of Safe City, the patrolling plan was being prepared by identifying crime hotspots.
