Dacoits looted currency and expensive mobile phones on gunpoint from three students of a local university near Kashmir Point hiking track in Murree on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to details, the dacoits intercepted a student and tried to make her hostage at gunpoint demanding money from her two other colleagues.

Interestingly, the dacoity incident took place few yards away from the DSP office.

After receiving the information, the police reached the crime scene immediately, but they were ‘welcomed’ by the dacoits’ firing.

During the intense exchange of firing, one policeman was injured.

Local residents complained that due to inefficiency of the police team the dacoits managed to escape into a nearby jungle.

The police have registered an FIR and started investigation.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also took notice of the incident and directed the concerned authorities to forward her detailed report about the incident.
