The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) wrote a letter to the Interior Ministry for security, ahead of PTI's protest in front of Election Commission offices across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The instructions have been issued to Home Minister to ensure the security of ECP offices. ECP also wrote letters to the provincial governments to ensure the security of provincial and district offices.

On the other hand, the red zone is being sealed with containers, and 1500 officers of the Islamabad Police and 300 Rangers personnel will be deployed.

The red zone is being sealed with containers and SPs of Islamabad Police will be deployed at Margalla Road, Serena Chowk and Express Chowk.

CTD personnel will be stationed at checkpoints around the red zone and the prisoner vans have also been called.

According to sources, the process of installing a barbed wire around the main office of the Election Commission has started.

Sources privy to the matter said a meeting was held in the ECP regarding the security of the Provincial and District offices of EC in view of possible protests of PTI in front of its offices. Federal Interior Ministry officials also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, IG Islamabad met the officials of the Election Commission at the Central Secretariat of the Election Commission in which they discussed the security plan.

The ECP directed IG Islamabad to make foolproof security arrangements in view of the protest. IG Islamabad said that PTI rallies would not be allowed in the red zone, only PTI members would be allowed to go in the red zone.

According to the police report, the PTI protest cannot be provocative. According to police sources, the entrance to the red zone will be through Margalla Road because of PTI's protest.

According to the circular, parking of vehicles in front of the Election Commission has been prohibited and no official of the ECP could enter the office without an official card.

All Additional Director Generals will monitor the situation from their offices.
