Obstacles in way of filing nomination papers: Provincial election commissioner calls Punjab IG

Taking notice of obstacles being created by the police and the state institutions in the way of candidates filing their nomination papers, the Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab has made a telephonic contact with the Punjab IG police.
As per the media reports, talking on the telephone, the Provincial Election Commissioner said that interference in the work of the returning officers is not acceptable in any case, the Election Commission has to give level-playing to all the political parties to conduct a transparent election.
The Provincial Election Commissioner said that it is the right of the candidates to submit their nomination papers for the election, if the police prevent any candidate from submitting their nomination papers, action will be taken because they will not create any obstacle in the transparent election.
During the telephonic conversation, IG Punjab has assured the Provincial Election Commissioner of cooperation.
IG Punjab said that instructions have been issued to all the RPOs, they are with the Election Commission to conduct transparent elections, action will be taken if any officer is found involved in illegal activities.
