The National Accountability Bureau on Tuesday recovered a huge amount of foreign currency and valuables including gold bricks during a raid in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The NAB Rawalpindi in a big action in Karachi got recovered an astounding amount of foreign currency and gold bricks from the possession of ex-Korangi municipal commissioner Masroor Memon. The anti-corruption team arrested Memon along with his two accomplices: accounts officer Vikash and audit officer Dharam Veer.

The raiding team recovered dollars, Darhams, Riyal, buttons and gold bricks from their possession. Besides these, the team also found Telegraphic Transfer (TT) receipts worth millions of rupees. So much so that the NAB had to use currency note counting machine to count the money.

According to the NAB, corruption was committed in the purchase deal of oil and other things. The officials used to sell tenders after taking bribes and the purchase receipts mentioned higher amount of oil than originally purchased amount of oil. Then the ill-gotten amount used to shift to fake accounts from where this money was wired abroad, the NAB added.
