Surge in election expenses: ECP to write letter to government

The estimated expenses for holding separate elections have surged, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, the election commission needs more than Rs55 billion for holding the separate elections as the polls are not being held on the same day
The commission earlier estimated the same-day election expenses at Rs47 billion and sent a letter to the federal government, sources said, adding that the government released Rs5b for the purpose.
The commission will again write a letter to the government for granting more than Rs55b, the insiders said adding that up to 10b additional expenses are required for polls in two provinces and by-elections.
