In the most bizarre case of newborn babies’ switching, a hospital staff in Lahore has made a serious faux pas as it handed over two newborn babies, one of them dead, to the wrong mothers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
As per details, two babies were born to two women with the same name Muqaddas in the Gynecology Ward No 1 of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
The staff at the hospital switched the babies and delivered the dead child to the mother whose baby was born healthy.
The derelict gynecology staff did not bother to differentiate between the surnames of the mothers whose names were Muqaddas Waqas and Muqaddas Ijaz.
The hospital administration formed a three-member inquiry committee headed by Prof Dr Naveed Akhtar to probe the case of babies’ switching. The other members of the committee included AMS Dr Zafar Ali and DMS Dr Amjad.
The committee has been directed to complete its investigation within 24 hours.
