A meeting held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday reviewed sustainable measures for higher crop yield and promotion of agriculture, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the meeting, suggestions regarding high-quality seeds and agrochemicals to achieve better crop yield were considered.
It was also agreed to allocate special zones for agriculture in the special economic zones.
The chief minister asked for a workable plan to increase the production of gram and pulses in Punjab.
“By increasing the production of pulses, a valuable amount of foreign exchange can be saved every year,” he pointed out.
“The promotion of agricultural exports along with self-sufficiency in agriculture is our common mission. Facilities are being created for investment in the agriculture sector. One window facility will be provided to the investors,” he added.
“We are also working with the private sector to promote corporate farming. Large-scale reforms are being brought for the prosperity of farmers and the development of agriculture,” he claimed.
“If the farmer makes progress, Pakistan will make progress,” he highlighted.
“Credit goes to Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his team for the record increase in the area under cotton cultivation in Punjab,” the agricultural experts said.
“Workable measures are indispensable for the development of value-added agriculture industries. Implementation of the water management plan for crops and the proportionate use of fertilizers should be ensured,” they stressed.
The chief minister assured the participants of the implementation of feasible proposals.
Provincial ministers, officers concerned and the representatives of the local and multinational companies were present in the meeting.
The representatives of the companies appreciated the efforts of the Punjab government for the promotion of agriculture.
