PM enquires after Shujaat, allays Chaudhrys’ concerns

Differences between the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the coalition partner Pakistan Muslim League (PML) were sorted out during a meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and PML leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in Lahore on Wednesday.
According to sources, the prime minister allayed PML leadership’s concerns at an exclusive meeting with Shujaat and Parvez, which continued for 20 minutes. The meeting took place in a pleasant atmosphere and the two sides spoke openly about their problems.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had visited the Lahore residence of Shujaat, president of the PML and former prime minister of Pakistan, to enquire after the veteran politician who has been suffering from health issues recently.
Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, a member of the National Assembly and son of Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, received the prime minister on his arrival at Shujaat’s residence in Lahore’s Gulberg area.
PML leaders Tariq Bashir Cheema, Shafay Hussain and Salak Hussain; Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti; Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahbaz Gill were also present. After the meeting, the prime minister left by Zahoor Elahi Road.
Shujaat was admitted to Lahore’s Services Institute of Medical Sciences a few days ago. He was discharged from the hospital after his condition improved and supply of artificial oxygen to him was removed. Shujaat also started recognising visitors after his condition improved. The former prime minister was admitted to a private ward of the hospital due to chest infection.
