Terming former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan “Ladla of judiciary”, caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has said that the facilities which Imran Khan is enjoying in jail are far too many as compared to facilities given to a common prisoner or former premiers.

In a special conversation with Independent Urdu on Friday, the interior minister said that a common citizen cannot even imagine the facilities Imran Khan gets in jail.

He said: “In the past, look at the behaviour of the courts regarding Imran Khan. When he was arrested on May 9, within two minutes, he was ordered to be taken to the Police Lines and asked to be taken in a Mercedes car. Things like the phrase 'nice (good) to see' strengthen my argument. We are in dire need of judicial reforms here. There are problems with the judiciary that everyone knows about.”

When asked about Imran Khan's appearance in the court on November 28 in the cipher case, he said that he would accept the order of the court.

'Most of the cases against Nawaz Sharif are baseless'

On a question regarding the legal issues after the return of former prime minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N Nawaz Sharif, Sarfraz Bugti said that in his opinion, the cases against the PML-N leader were mostly baseless and this would be the first time in the history of Pakistan that someone was disqualified for the crime of taking salary from his son.

On a question regarding level playing field in general elections, he said that the PML-N was not being any favour.

“All the political parties are doing their work, just as everyone knows that Zaka Ashraf is the darling of the Peoples Party and he is PPP’s candidate. There is a level playing field for all. It is not appropriate to comment on Bilawal Bhutto's statement.”

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is constantly accusing during his election campaign that his party is not being given a level playing field.

Talking about the security in the upcoming elections, the interior minister said that his ministry assured the Election Commission of all kinds of support.

'We cannot welcome those who have entered Pakistan unlawfully’

About the illegal immigrants staying in the country, the interior minister said that those who came to Pakistan because there was unrest in their homeland, now they should go back.

“This country is for Pakistanis. Pakistanis will live in it. A foreigner who wants to stay here legally, we will welcome him. If (someone) enters Pakistan unlawfully or by jumping over the wall, then we cannot give him the status of a guest.”

He said that so far about 300,000 illegal immigrants have returned, of which more than 99 percent are Afghan immigrants.

Tension in Kurram Agency

In response to a question on the failure of the government to stop the alleged communal tension in Kurram Agency, the caretaker interior minister said that the word failure was too big, ‘governments do not fail, the day the governments fail, the state will cease to exist’.

He said that there was no doubt that hostile agencies always tried to increase the fault lines of Pakistan.

"There was no communal division in the country before the 1980s. This is an attempt to add a fault line.

'In Gilgit-Baltistan, Jaranwala and other places, the traces of conspiracy are found elsewhere. We are unfortunate people who fall into this temptation.'

'The whole of Pakistan needs a firewall'

He further said that social media is also playing its role in this regard.

Expanding on the security situation in the country, Bugti talked about “planned” social media campaigns and said the country “basically needs a firewall that could regulate our media, especially social media”.

‘78pc of missing persons cases resolved’

Responding to a question about Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar being summoned by the Islamabad High Court in a case pertaining to missing persons, the minister said it was “not appropriate if the court began summoning the premier on every other minor issue”.

The minister claimed that the number of missing persons in Pakistan was the “lowest in the region” and said it had become a “propaganda tactic against the country”.

Bugti further said that 78pc of the cases mentioned in the lists provided to him had been resolved.

'Arms supply to Israel must be stopped'

Regarding the Israeli aggression on Gaza , he said that the war crimes committed by Israel have been exposed to the world.

"Pakistan will continue to support the Palestinians, the cruelty that is happening is unprecedented in the world. We condemn it.

"What is the position of the OIC is the position of Pakistan. The statement made by Saudi Arabia to stop the supply of weapons to Israel is also the position of Pakistan.”
