Claiming that a solid foundation had been laid for the country’s economic stability, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Tuesday he was fully optimistic that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would approve $7 billion in loan for Pakistan for a period of 37 months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the CPEC conference held in Lahore via a video link, he said the IMF’s Board would meet tomorrow.
He claimed that foreign investment in the country was increasing as the investors were more confident than before. “The policy rate has come down courtesy steps taken by the government,” the minister said, and added, “The inflation rate is also coming down by the day.”
Aurangzeb informed that work on the CPEC Phase-II was about to begin.
