At least seven people burnt in a fire that broke out following a collision between a van and a mini-truck near Dharam Kot Stop in Gojra on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to Rescue 1122, the identity of the deceased was difficult to ascertain as the bodies were badly burnt.

The bodies and the injured were immediately shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital.

The rescue operation was underway till the filing of the report. The death toll was expected to increase.

CM Naqvi seeks report about Gojra accident 

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and regret over the loss of precious human lives after a van caught fire following a collision between a van and a mini-truck near Dharam Kot Stop in Gojra, which left six people burned to death.

The CM also extended his sympathies to the bereaved heirs and sought a report from the Commissioner and the Regional Police Officer (RPO). 

He directed the relevant authorities to take a legal action against the negligent driver responsible for the accident.

He said that injured persons be provided with the best treatment facilities.
