The toll tax on the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway has been increased, with the toll for a standard vehicle travelling from Lahore to Islamabad rising from Rs1100 to Rs1210.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, commercial vehicles, including vans, trailers, and trucks, have seen an even steeper increase, with tolls rising by up to Rs600.
Specifically, the toll for a van travelling between Lahore and Islamabad has been set at Rs2030, while the toll for a coaster has jumped from Rs2240 to Rs2840.
As per the new tax amounts announced by the authorities for heavy vehicles, bus tolls are now Rs4060, trucks Rs5280, and trailers Rs6780.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Authority stated that the new toll rates have been implemented across all interchanges on the M2 Motorway.
The spokesperson further stated that the increase is part of an annual 10 per cent hike as per the contract agreement.
However, travellers have voiced their dissatisfaction with the increased tolls, citing the burden of existing inflation and the rising costs of living, which have now made travel more expensive as well.
