Speaker declares Maryam, Aftab's nominations for CM Punjab election correct

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan declared the nomnation papers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Maryam Nawaz and Sunni Ittehad Council's (SIC) Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan correct after examined the documents.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, both the candidates' nomination papers were filed in the PA secretary's office on Sunday afternoon. PA Secretary Chaudhry Amir Habib received the nomination papers.
There were three nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz Sharif were submitted in the Assembly secretariat in which Col (R) Ayub Gadhi, Zeeshan Rafique and Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman proposed her while Mian Yawar Zaman, Salman Rafique and Khwaja Imran Nazir endorsed her for the CM election.
Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan, the nominated candidate of the SIC for Chief Minister, personally reached the Punjab Assembly and submitted the nomination papers to the Secretary of the Punjab Assembly.
Time for submission was given to the candidates till 5 pm for nomination papers and after the filling of the nominations from both candidates, PA Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan examined the documents and after scrutiny, the papers of both the candidates have been declared correct as per the rules and regulations.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab will be held tomorrow (Monday February 26, 2024) at 11:00 am.
The Speaker also confirmed the media that there will be a contest between Maryam Nawaz Sharif of PML-N and Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan of SIC for the post of Chief Minister.
Later, Punjab Chief Minister nominee Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan of the SIC talked to media and said that he is contesting the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab as a protest.
Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan said that Sunni Ittehad Council is in a position to give surprise but many of his party's newly elected members are not being allowed to come to the House.
Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan said that the candidate of Sunni Unity Council will be successful.
