Federal Investment Board Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain Thursday termed the attempt to remove his father Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from the party’s presidency illegal and unconstitutional, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chaudhry Salik said that there is a certain decorum to call a General Council meeting and added that not even a single Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) appeared in this meeting held by Ch Pervaiz Elahi-led faction.
He said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is the president of the party constitutionally and legally, he was removed unlawfully and it is most likely that Imran Khan asked them to do so.
He said removing Ch Shujaat in this way is just like if PTI’s Balochistan faction announces to remove Imran Khan from the party’s chairmanship.
Salik demanded that the names of those who attended the General Council meeting should be made public.
He said that members were called and made to sign a piece of paper yesterday as a plan was made to conduct a so-called election and elect Parvez Elahi party president.
Ch Salik, commenting about Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that Imran Khan must have scolded them that they should take care of their own party first and then talk about seat adjustment.
He said that his father is a legal and constitutional party president and calling a fake meeting of the General Council cannot change the facts.
PML-Q general secretary Tariq Bashir Cheema said that an unconstitutional step was taken today.
“The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is looking into the matter of the party’s presidency and we expect that it will soon give a decision.”
Cheema said that a pretence of contesting the election alongside Imran Khan was played. This whole group was going to merge in with PTI 10 days back.
Ch Shujaat is Pakistan Muslim League-Q’s president and the reason behind the facade played will be unveiled when the time comes.
While condemning the happenings of today, he said that we strongly condemn this act but they cannot do much as we have the majority of the parliament.
