Alarming increase in spread of poliovirus in Pakistan has been recorded as poliovirus in environmental samples of Tank and Zhob was also confirmed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The anti-polio laboratory established in the National Institute of Health released the details in this regard.

According to report, between July 4 and 8, poliovirus was detected in sewage water samples from Tank and Zhob.

In total, poliovirus has been confirmed in 53 districts of the country, report of National Institute of Health said.

Pakistan Polio Program has organized 6 anti-polio campaigns this year and two nationwide campaigns were also organized in January and February this year.

National Institute of Health said more than 4 million children were vaccinated against polio in nationwide campaigns.
