CM Maryam reviews Lahore development model pilot project in Rajgarh

Punjab CM visits PDMA head office to review arrangements ahead of monsoon

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reached Haji Park Rajgarh to review the pilot project of the Lahore Development Model in UC 53. Under the development model, concrete, cobblestone, tuff tiles and coloured floors were made, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The CM inspected the model streets and reviewed the quality of work. On the occasion, she directed the authorities concerned that it must be ensured that water should not stand for long after rain in the newly constructed Model Street.” She agreed to a proposal to install different colour tiles in different towns of Lahore.

On the occasion, CM Maryam Nawaz met the families there. She went to different houses and interacted with the women, and inquired them about their health. Some elderly ladies informed the Chief Minister about their problems, which she assured to solve very soon.

The children showered flowers on CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and a woman thanked her with prayers by showing Chief Minister a pack of her husband’s heart medicine that she had received at her home.

CM Maryam Nawaz took pictures and selfies with women, children and workers. An elderly lady also presented her a beautiful bouquet.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider gave a detailed briefing about the Lahore Development Pilot Project. She briefed Chief Minister, “street lights, house numbering and name plates have been installed in the model street of UC 53.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq and Member Provincial Assembly Mian Marghub Ahmed accompanied Madam Chief Minister. Chief Secretary, Local Government Secretary, Principal Secretary to CM, Commissioner Lahore, other relevant officers and a large number of workers, who gathered there suddenly, were also present.

Meanwhile, CM Maryam Nawaz during her visit to Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Head Office Sharif directed the authorities concerned that encroachments and obstacles in the nullahs should be removed ahead of rainy season.

She said in view of possible floods, timely evacuation of the population should be planned.

She questioned that early flood warning system was in use all over the world, why is it being in Pakistan?”

CM Maryam Nawaz said,” in case of rains, immediate drainage of water should be ensured in every city.” She underscored timely and authentic flood information should be delivered.

Chief Minister said, encroachments should be removed from passage of hill torrents, and monitoring should continue round the clock. She also visited the central control room of PDMA and observed Weather Portal, Flood Forecasting Division and Flood Simulation Model.

Earlier, Secretary Irrigation, Chief Meteorologist and DG PDMA gave a detailed briefing on flood preparedness in the province. They briefed Chief Minister, “due to the fear of possible floods, daily reports have been sought from most of the districts.” They apprised the CM that in view of possible flooding, instructions are issued to inform public of the evacuation plans in the affected areas.

Earlier, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Walton Road Remodeling and Upgradation Project.

“Open Walton Road three carriageway to traffic by September,” Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned during her visit.

Chief Minister inspected the construction of drains and roads, and reached Walton Road to assess herself problems faced by the people. She also inspected the traffic situation at Defense Junction.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had a detailed overview of Walton Road upgradation project, and attended a special meeting at the site office in which COO Mansoor Janjua gave a detailed briefing on the project. Madam Chief Minister was briefed, “the construction of ADA drain has been completed, and two disposal stations will also be constructed.”

He further apprised them that overhead bridge for traffic from Qainchi and Ferozepur to DHA is also under completion.

Chief Minister directed them to solve public problems on Walton Road before monsoon.
