Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the UN Security Council resolution which called for a ceasefire in Gaza, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a statement released in Islamabad on Tuesday morning, the prime minister urged the international community to ensure the implementation of the Security Council's resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Shehbaz Sharif said the ongoing Zionist oppression against innocent Palestinians in Gaza must be stopped permanently.

He said thousands of women and children have been martyred in Israel's barbaric attacks. Hospitals and refugee camps were deliberately bombed by Israel in Gaza, which is highly deplorable.

The premier said Pakistan will continue to support Palestinian brothers and sisters for creation of a Palestinian state on the basis of pre-1967 borders.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has welcomed the adoption of the UN Security Council resolution, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said Pakistan also welcomes the Security Council’s call for allowing free flow of humanitarian assistance to Gaza and lifting of all barriers to provision of humanitarian assistance.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch called for expeditious implementation of the Security Council resolution and hoped that it will serve as a first step towards ending Israel’s brutal onslaught and ensure a permanent ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Minister for Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar has also welcomed the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

In a post on X, Dar urged urgent implementation of the resolution and hoped the Palestinian people will have much needed respite after months of bloodshed and massacre of over 30,000 innocent civilians.
