A teenage girl of Nowshera has chosen a partner of her choice in Sindh and both reached the Sindh High Court (SHC) to get pre-arrest bail and protection against the possible retaliation in the name of honour by the girl’s family, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
This another incident of teenage marriage through court comes amid the love-marriage spree in the country, thanks to the social media networks that are proving to be the best place for boys and girls to meet online and develop distant relationships.
The name of this girl is Sonia, and she has married Mansoor Bhagio of Nawabshah against whom her father has filed an abduction case.
Sonia stated before the court that she had not been kidnapped, adding she married Mansoor according to her choice. She also blamed in the court that her family wanted to kill her.
While hearing the case, SHC Judge Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro expressed his concerns over the frequent love marriage incidents without the consent of parents. “What is this happening? I have heard that these are the effects of PPG game,” he remarked.
The court, however, granted bail to Mansoor Bhagio over submission of Rs50,000 surety bonds, and it also allowed Sonia to go with Mansoor Bhagio.
The family of Sonia was also present in the court for hearing of the case.
According to the lawyer for the couple, Sonia and Mansoor became friends on a social media mobile application Likee.
It merits a mention here that in recent past, three girls of Karachi namely Dua Zehra, Nimrah Kazmi, and Deenar ran away from their homes and contracted love marriages.
