Family burns alive mother-of-one for ‘honour’ in Punjab district 

The family of a woman burnt her alive in the name of honour in the Ahmedpur Sial area of the Jhang district in Punjab, police said on Friday.

Police arrested the father, brothers and sisters of the victim, Zareena, after registering a case.

The accused – father Rajab Ali, brothers Jaber and Aanar, sisters Kausar and Asia – set the mother of one ablaze after dousing her with kerosene.

She was rushed to Nishtar Hospital in Multan where she breathed her last.

The police sprang into action after the Jhang DPO took notice. The body was removed to THQ Hospital for post-mortem.

Zarina Bibi tied the knot with Irfan five years ago and after the divorce, she along with her daughter started living at her parents’ house.

Reportedly, Zareena went out with Muzamil and returned the following day, inviting the ire of the family members who murdered her.
