Pakistan Navy deployed its warship PNS ASLAT with an embarked helicopter in the Indian Ocean to ensure safety and security of merchant ships carrying shipments to and from Pakistani Ports, reported 23NewsHD TV channel.


According to a statement issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy) on Saturday, the deployment of PNS ASLAT is primarily aimed at ensuring safety and security of international shipping in these waters.


During the deployment, PN Ship will undertake independent operations as well as combined operations along with other friendly and partner nations to achieve common objectives of safe and secure maritime commons.


The ship will also call on regional ports for Naval Diplomatic tasks in line with Pakistan's foreign policy objectives.


PNS ASLAT is fitted with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, capable of undertaking a wide range of maritime operations in multi-threat environment.


Pakistan Navy is committed to ensure freedom of navigation on high seas and safety of international sea lanes of communication besides safeguarding national maritime interests and trade through sea. Cognizant of its national obligation with regards to maintenance of rule-based order at sea, Pakistan Navy regularly deploys its warships on Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP) and also contributes to collaborative maritime security efforts.
