Actor Adnan Siddique criticized singer Shehzad Roy and Coke-Studio, famed Wahab Siddique for improvising or remixing the national anthem at a Lux Style Awards event and termed it disrespectful.

Taking to Instagram, he commented: “Is it appropriate to take creative liberties with our National Anthem, which was composed to instill in our patriotism and remind us of our nation’s glory? Does our Constitution permit anyone to improvise/remix the Tarana in the guise of creativity?”

Adnan said that it is always played in the original rendition at matches, tournaments, and other state functions.

He was of the view that at a famous award show, artists, however, fiddle with the National symbol and possibly get away with it too.

“Personally, I find ‘remix’ of the Tarana disrespectful,” he clarified what he thought about it.

Sajjal Aly Responds

Actor Sajjal Aly was swift to respond to Adana Sidduqe's criticism.

She said: “As a Pakistani and an artist, I found the diversity of my country reflected in this rendition of the national anthem beautiful. I found it healing.”

Defending Shehzad Roy and Wahab Bugti, she commented that both broke no law.

“They breached no protocol. Their rendition reflected the values of our Constitution and remained true to the original anthem. You asked for thoughts. These are mine. Feel free to disagree,” she conveyed her thoughts clearly to her fans with a smiley emoji.

 Anooshay Ashraf

Agreeing with Sajjal Aly, Anooshay Ashraf said, “Absolutely agree with you. Many countries have different renditions of the original anthem as long as it’s done with decency and acceptability. And of course, we can agree to disagree. That’s the whole point of a democracy, for people to not be a herd of sheep and have an absolute right to an opinion of their own. For me, the anthem is sacred yes. This is just adding more diversity to it to accommodate everyone, it doesn’t change its essence or feel. Never will.”
