CM Naqvi lays foundation stone of Pakistan's first biogas plant in Lahore

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi laid the foundation stone of Pakistan's first major 6,000 cubic meter biogas plant in Gijjar Colony, Rakhchand Rai, Lahore on Wednesday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected the project and directed officials to complete the biogas plant before the stipulated period of April 31, 2024.
Punjab Secretary for the Energy Department briefed CM Naqvi about the project.
Later, CM Naqvi talked to the media and said the biogas plant would cost Rs350 million and the project would pay off its cost in a few years as the annual revenue of it would be Rs80 million.
The CM said the biogas plant will produce 1600 kilograms of fuel-grade gas per day and produce 16 tons of fertilizer per day.
He said the income from the biogas plant will be spent on the construction and development of the same area.
Naqvi said in Rakhchand Rai, there are 24 thousand animals in Gujjar Colony, whose dung will produce gas and natural fertilizer and this biogas plant will also remove the pollution of the area.
The Energy Department has been directed to make PC One for the biogas plant at Gujarpura.
He said the deadline to complete the project is 31st April but his government will complete it before that. CM Naqvi also announced to setting up of another biogas plant in Gujarpura along with the Orange Line metro train.
Talking about smog in the city, the CM said there is definitely smog in Lahore but thank God the situation is better than last year as the air quality index was above 400 last year.
He said the upgradation of 100 hospitals and most of them will be upgraded by January 31.
He paid thanks to Allah that the intention of the whole team including me is good, and with God's will, they will go home with dignity.
About the deportation of Afghan immigrants, he said from November 1, there will be a crackdown on illegally staying foreigners and it is good if the foreigners leave on their own, otherwise they will be sent back to their countries in a respectful manner.
He said drug trafficking is a big issue in the province as half of the inmates in prisons are detained for drug trafficking cases.
He said the crackdown on violation of one-way will continue and till today, 6000 motorcycles and around 400 vehicles were booked for violation of the law.
