Joint task force set up to dig into issuing passport to Afghans

The federal interior ministry has constituted a joint task force over the matter of issuing 12,000 fake passports to Afghanis in Saudi Arabia, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Saudi authorities informed the government about the matter involving grade 20 officers in issuing bogus Pakistani passports to Afghans.
Reportedly, a large number of Afghans also travelled from Pakistan on fake passports.
A 9-member Joint Task Force (JTF) headed by the Director General (DG) of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) will dig into it.
Officers of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Inter-Military Intelligence (IMI), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), NADRA and PTA are among the task force.
The task force will investigate the issue of leakage of sensitive data and unauthorized access to the national database.
The task force will also formulate its recommendations regarding mobile phone companies and various institutions.
The task force will reach out to networks involved in the business, both inside and outside the institutions.
The task force will not only identify those responsible but also will recommend their punishment.
It will also formulate its recommendations to make the database more secure and protect it from cyber-attacks.
The force will submit its report to the Interior Ministry within 15 days. A 5-member inquiry committee was formed on the matter, which later was disbanded.
