Police officer shot dead in Islamabad

Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a sub-inspector namely Haider Ali Shah outside his home in the jurisdiction of Police Station Shehzad Town in Islamabad and killed him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Soon after receiving information about the firing incident, police teams rushed to the crime scene and shifted the critically injured policeman to Polyclinic Hospital but he died on way to the hospital.

Police sources said that the deceased sub-inspector was performing his duties in Investigation Cell of Police Station Industrial Area and was conducting investigations into a number of murder cases.

Police after registration of a case started investigation.

CCTV footage showed that the assailants chased Haider Ali Shah on way to his residence in the Jhang Saidan area of Chak Shahzad.

When Haider Ali Shah parked his car opposite his home the gunmen also arrived there in a white-coloured car and sprayed him with bullet.

The CCTV footage also showed that the accused were firing directly on the sub-inspector.

Mohsin Naqvi pays tributes to sub-inspector

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid glowing tributes to the services rendered by Shaheed Sub-Inspector Haider Ali Shah who was shot dead by unidentified persons in Islamabad.

In his condolence message to the family of Shaheed Sub-Inspector, Mohsin Naqvi condoled the death of Haider Ali Shah and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family.

Mohsin Naqvi directed relevant officials to submit a detailed and comprehensive report regarding the firing incident.

He further directed to use all available resources to apprehend the culprits as soon as possible. He said that all accused persons will be brought to justice.

Mohsin Naqvi said he is with the family of Shaheed Haider Ali Shah in time of grief and sorrow. He assured that all measures will be taken to look after and for the well-being of Shaheed Haider Ali Shah’s family.
