The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Sunday arrested the terrorist, who was involved in an attempt on the life of former MPA Liaquat Ali, belonging to PTI, along with his two facilitators, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Additional IG (AIG) CTD Shaukat Abbas said the terrorist belonged to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and a large quantity of weapons, 16 kilos of explosive material, three hand grenades, detonators and some important documents had been recovered from his possession.

The AIG further said that those taken into custody had even obtained Afghan passports for carrying out acts of terrorism.

The terrorist told the interrogators that he had attacked the ex-MPA because he used to cooperate with the law-enforcement agencies.

Police, on the other hand, expressed the resolve that soon they would also arrest his accomplices.

Four people were killed, while four others, including the ex-MPA, had been injured in the terrorist incident.
