Polling for by-elections on the vacant seats in 65 village and neighbourhood councils in 21 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has started, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

More than 385,000 voters will exercise their right to vote.

In Peshawar city and Badhaber tehsils, polling for by-elections on two youth and four general seats has started.

A total of 15 polling stations, nine for men and six for women, have been set up for elections on the six seats. A total of 17 candidates are contesting for these seats.

There are two general seats in Peshawar city tehsil, whereas, there are two youth and as many general seats in Badhaber tehsil.

The total number of registered voters in the two tehsils is 25,457 including 14,307 men and 11,150 women.

12 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive and three sensitive.

In Garhi Binat 4, Badhaber tehsil, Muhammad Irfan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muhammad Usman of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and independent candidate Zeeshan are contesting for the youth seat.

In Garhi Binat 1, Badhaber tehsil, Amjad Khan of PTI and Muhammad Saqib of Awami National Party (ANP) are contesting for the youth seat.

In Maroofzai, Badhaber tehsil, ANP’s Asad Ahmed, JUI’s Nizamullah and PTI’s Rafiullah are contesting for the general seat.

In Garhi Fazal Khaliq, Badhaber tehsil, PTI’s Niaz Muhammad and ANP’s Niaz Mohammad are competing for the general seat.

In Noudeh Bala 1, Peshawar, PTI’s Kashifur Rehman and three independent candidates including Muhammad Ismail, Shaheen Khan and Shakirullah are contesting for the general seat.

In Regi Yousafzai, Peshawar, JUI’s Inayatullah, PTI’s Khan Wali and independent candidate Salman Khan are in the race for the general seat.
