The government is waiting for the opposition parties to provide to it the list of persons they think are appropriate for the post of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday while quoting its sources.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have suggested the names of suitable persons to the steering committee.
However, these parties have not yet agreed as to who will be those three persons whose names will be forwarded to the steering committee president.
JUI-F has forwarded the name of Justice (R) Daust Muhammad Khan for the post; PML-N has put forward two names: Nasir Saeed Khosa and Salman Siddique while the PPP has named former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani as its candidate for the coveted post. The party has also suggested the name of a former judge.
It is because of difference of opinion between the opposition parties as to who should be the next NAB chairman that the government is presently getting on with Justice (r) Javed Iqbal as the chairman.
