The federal capital IG police has apologized to the Islamabad High Court in a contempt case related to the arrest of former PTI leader Shireen Mazari despite court order, saying that he could not even think of committing violation of the court order, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Islamabad IG Akbar Nasir Khan on Tuesday submitted his written reply to the court in the contempt case. He begged court’s pardon and stated that he could not even think of any violation of any directive or order of the court.

He said that he felt ashamed and he apologized for the impression that he violated the court order.

He said in order to avoid any such situation in future, he had issued a directive asking police officers to ensure full implementation of court orders.

The IG further stated that a departmental action was initiated against the policemen who arrested Shireen Mazari.

He said a show-cause notice was issued to sub inspector Haider Ali, constables Sohail Qureshi, Faisal, Waqas, lady constables Sundus and Marvi who were part of the arresting team.

He said that the police were not served with the court order to stop the arrest before the MPO order of the Rawalpindi DC.

We were informed about the May 17 MPO order by the Rawalpindi DC only, he added.

He went on to say that the Kohsar police officers went outside Shireen Mazari's house with Rawalpindi police and Advocate Iman Mazari did not inform the police about the court order to prevent arrest.
