Making it clear that no political party could be deprived of its right to hold public gatherings, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered the federal capital’s district administration to allow the PTI to go ahead with its rally scheduled to be held on April 6 on its own terms and conditions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chief Justice (CJ) of the IHC Justice Aamer Farooq heard the PTI’s petition, seeking the court order for the administration to allow the party to hold the event.
PTI’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat Advocate, on the occasion, said that the party planned to hold the rally on April 6.
The chief justice asked him to make sure that the event would remain peaceful and that there would be no rioting.
The state counsel, on the occasion, said that the administration had barred the party from holding the public gathering on account of security concerns.
On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had issued notices to respondents on the PTI’s plea, seeking permission for a rally in the federal capital.
During the hearing of the PTI’s petition, party counsel Sher Afzal Marwat Advocate told Chief Justice Aamer Farooq that the federal capital's top police official cited security threats as the reason behind denying permission.
The judge, after hearing the arguments, said the court would look into available options on Wednesday and adjourned the hearing until today.
Earlier, the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) had refused to give permission to the PTI to hold a rally on March 30.
