PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Wednesday said circus was staged at the PID Islamabad on daily basis, adding that it was an innocent government comprising innocent thieves.
Reacting to the latest press conference held by Adviser to the PM on Accountability Shahzad Akbar, she again asked the government to explain why permission was granted to export sugar at a time amid shortage in the country, which caused exponential price increase in the domestic market.
Marriyum recalled that the sugar price was Rs54 per kg during the PML-N government which had increased to Rs90 under PTI.
Shahzad sent the main culprit, Prime Minister Imran Khan, to Nathiagali through back alley, she remarked.
About the demand made for placing PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on ECL, Marriyum said the movement of the government members, who arrived in Pakistan carrying briefcase, should be restricted as they could leave the country at any moment.
Talking to reporters, she also questioned why the higher dollar price was not kept in mind while giving subsidy and allowing sugar export.
The difference between the records of Pakistan and Afghanistan about the export proved that sugar hoarded in the country, Marriyum added.
Imran, the main accused, wasn’t made part of the inquiry, she said, asking him to appear before the commission and telecasting the interview live on TV.
She rejected all the allegations levelled against the Sharif family and challenged him to give proof of sugar export by the mills owned by PML-N leaders.
They did not export sugar, she said and added that one sugar mills was closed for the last two years, while the FBR officials were sitting in the other for the same period.
The PML-N spokesperson said all the decisions regarding sugar subsidy and export were taken by Imran.
About Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, she said he told the inquiry commission that he could not recollect about the meeting at which the decision about subsidy was taken.
The sugar price increased but Buzdar didn’t know what happened, Marriyum remarked.
Abdul Razak Dawood told the commission that Imran directed him to allow sugar export at every cost, she said and also mentioned that the orders were verbally.
