Acting President Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that PPP has constituted a committee which will talk to PML-N’s high-ups regarding PPP’s inclusion in the Centre and Punjab government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media, the Senate chairman said that PPP would join the government if it was offered a proper share. Gilani said that PPP has not denied to PML-N about becoming part of the government.
He claimed that no law or bill can be passed without PPP. He said every bill would be passed with a majority.
The acting president also talked about the Defamation Bill, 2024 recently passed by the Punjab Assembly. The bill, which caused a huge uproar, has yet to be sent to Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem who would sign it into law.
The governor has hinted at sending the bill back to the assembly for further consultation and review. The comments reflected a wider disapproval of PPP leadership about the bill.
Mr Gilani said he held a detailed discussion with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on the bill, and the party leadership wanted the concerns of journalists addressed before the law was enacted.
Earlier, according to APP, while addressing party workers at his residence, Mr Gilani said the PPP wanted political stability, which was a must for economic progress.
