Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Vice President Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has expressed concerns about the potential repercussions of inter-party elections in the coming days, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the 24NewsHD TV channel exclusively on Sunday, a member of former prime minister Imran Khan’s legal team Sher Khan Marwat asserted that the primary motive behind such a move was to remove Imran Khan from the PTI chairmanship.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday ordered the PTII) to hold intra-party elections within the next 20 days to retain “bat” as its election symbol, warning that any deviation would render it ineligible to obtain any other election symbol for the upcoming general elections.

According to Marwat, if inter-party elections are conducted, legal obstacles could emerge, complicating Imran Khan's position as chairman.

He said that the election symbol does not matter to Imran Khan’s followers.

Sher Afzal Marwat emphasized that even if Imran Khan were to appear in court, party workers would not be able to reach the court in his support.

Addressing the recent encounter with Islamabad Police, Marwat claimed that he was needlessly detained, and if such attempts were made in the future, he would exercise his right to self-defence.

Sher Afzal Marwat suggested that resorting to self-defence could involve firing at the feet.

To a question, he pointed out the irony of accusations against legal professionals, highlighting that even figures like the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam, and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto were lawyers.
