A girl named Tania Lakhir from Khairpur Nathan Shah committed suicide after failing to pass her Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The parents of the deceased admitted that their daughter took this drastic step due to her inability to clear the crucial examination.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Faheem Lakhir, who is also Tania's uncle, confirmed that her failure in the MDCAT exam led to her taking her own life.

Earlier, on October 24, 2024, the 16-year-old girl’s body was discovered at her residence. Initial reports sparked rumours of foul play and allegations of murder in the local area. However, the family’s admission and statements from officials have dispelled such speculations.

It was reported that the girl, who was living with her grandfather after the passing of her parents, was buried late at night without the traditional Islamic rites of washing and shrouding the body.
