The HMDC Project was inaugurated by the President of Pakistan in November 2009. The project is estimated to cost a total sum of Rs6.2b. The dual carriageway has resulted in reduced travel time and improved fuel efficiency.
A state of the art electronic toll system named Electronic Toll and Traffic Management system (ETTM) has also been installed and implemented for the first time in Sindh.
The project has managed to abide by environmental laws and has ensured sufficient economics stimulation in the area as well.
