ECP to release preliminary list of new constituencies under fresh delimitation today

Work on the delimitation of the national and provincial assembly constituencies has been completed as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will release the preliminary list of new constituencies today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
As per the schedule, the preliminary lists of new constitutions, delimited under the digital census, were to be released on October 10. However, the ECP has completed its work 15 days before the scheduled time.
After the details of the new constituencies are released, objections to them will be received till October 26, and hearings on those objections will be held till November 25.
The final list of constituencies will be released on November 30 after which a 54-day election schedule will be given and general elections will be held in the last week of January 2024.
266 seats of the National Assembly, 297 seats of the Punjab Assembly, 130 seats of the Sindh Assembly, 51 seats of the Balochistan Assembly and 115 seats of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were delimited.
The quota of a National Assembly constituency will be 905,595 for Punjab, 913,000 for Sindh, 907,913 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 930,900 for Balochistan and 787,954 for Islamabad, the informed sources have said.
The quota of a Punjab Assembly constituency is 429,929. It is 428,431 for a Sindh Assembly constituency, 355,270 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 292,047 for a Balochistan Assembly constituency.
