Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over a meeting to review the ongoing operation against criminals in the Kachha area, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar briefed the meeting about the progress, saying that 51,000-acre land has been cleared of criminals and security checkpoints have been established. Three miscreants were killed, eight injured and 46 arrested, he maintained.
Dens of criminals have been demolished, he said, adding that the offensive has been intensified and fresh fleets reached the area.
The chief minister expressed satisfaction with the police feats and reiterated the resolve to maintain the state writ in the area to bring in public welfare projects.
He heaped praise on the brave policeperson, saying: "We salute the bravery and spirit of the police officers and youths who participated in the operation.
Lasting peace will return, he said, calling for a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction and repair of roads and bridges in the area.
The chief secretary, police big guns and senior officials attended the meeting while officers from the other districts concerned joined the meeting through a video link.
On the instructions of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker provincial health minister Dr Javedikaram reached the burn center of Jinnah Hospital.
