Ishaq Dar appointed as Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The decision was announced on the directions of Prime Minister  Shehbaz Sharif. The PM Shehbaz Sharif is currently in Saudi Arabia to attend the World Economic Forum, accompanied by FM Ishaq Dar.

The appointment was confirmed through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division late on Sunday. 

The notification stated that “The Prime Minister has been pleased to designate Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan with immediate effect and until further orders.

”Important announcement, foreign minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a post on ‘X’ also.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) key leader Ishaq Dar has earlier served as the finance minister in the previous government of PML-N.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Pervaiz Elahi have also served as deputy prime ministers.
